Company History
The Right Way - The Wimmer's Way
Wimmer's
believes there is only one way to serve our customers - The Right
Way, The Wimmer's Way. This philosophy was started in 1934 by
George Wimmer Sr., founder of Wimmer's Meat Products.
George
Wimmer Sr. was a native of Hainfeld, Austria, where he served
his apprenticeship in the butcher and sausage-making trade. He
migrated to the United States in 1914 and settled in Milwaukee.
In 1934, George and his wife Lisbet moved their family to Snyder,
Nebraska, and opened a small butcher shop and sausage kitchen.
George's meat formulas, old-world spice recipes and reputation
for uncompromised quality were quickly recognized. He believed
that in order to make quality products for his customers he must
start with quality ingredients.
By Quality Ingredients We Mean:
1. The highest quality
cuts of Beef and Pork. NO FILLERS - EVER
2. Pure natural spices.
No extracts and distilled oils. Natural spices are like time-release
capsules. The full-bodied flavor remains constant for the life
of the sausage. Wimmer's believes it is important to guarantee
that our sausage has the same appetizing, full-bodied flavor when
it is purchased by our customers as on the day we make it.
3. Hardwood smoking.
Natural smoking can never be duplicated.
4. Natural casings
for our wieners and sausages. Why do we use natural casings? First,
natural casings breathe as no artificial casings can. As a result,
natural casings allow smoke to gently penetrate the meat better
than artificial casings do. Second, natural casings hold in the
flavorful juices and natural spices while the sausage cooks. Third,
there is the snappy bite, bursting with flavor, that only natural
casings can provide.
Sixty-five years
later, Wimmer's Meat Products continues to operate by these standards.
Second and third generations of the Wimmer family in America continue
to carry on this great tradition in sausage-making. Wimmer's is
still the family-owned operation with the same personal attention
to quality, service and product superiority. George H. and Harold
Wimmer managed the company's operations through 1980, and today
continue to serve on our Board of Directors. Harold's son, Dave,
is currently Chairman of the Board of Wimmer's Meat Products. Dave is committed
to leading Wimmer's with the same commitment as the Wimmer's men
before him with a vision for the future.
